So what we have decided to do is, as I said, a daiquiri bracket, and the goal of this is to really get a sense of what are our favorite or the best rums for making daiquiris with.
... episode where we were kinda debating, you know, what widely available rum do we recommend to people to just to make, like, a sort of classic light-bodied dai- like Cuban style type daiquiri, and I, I kinda struggled coming up with the right rum.
Like, I, I have ones that I recommend, but not necessarily that I heartily endorse.
And so it started as an idea of, like, let's try all of those rums just, like, side by side in daiquiris and, and find the best classic daiquiri profile rum that's out there, that's-
... or, or maybe, like, confirm what most people would already say, which is Havana Club 3 I think is-
And we got to talking and decided that while that definition of the daiquiri is probably, you know, respectful of tradition and how it's classically defined, when people use the word daiquiri these days, they're not always talking about that type of rum profile, you know? People talk about making rum fire daiquiris and-
... cane juice rum daiquiris, and I definitely know that there are some purists in the audience that hear me say something like rum fire daiquiri and are in- instantly saying, "That's actually not a daiquiri," [laughs] because it doesn't use the correct type of rum.
And so the, the kinda crazy idea we had was what if we expand this and have four different brackets for different styles of daiquiris, um, eight rums in each bracket, and put them all head-to-head within sim- somewhat similarly categorized rums, and see which ones we prefer, and invite the listeners to, to participate alongside us if, if they wanna source 32 rums.
