KC Current Thoughts: Road Struggles Continue As Temwa Leads Her Country To The World Cup

But anyways, uh, kinda going back to yesterday's match, uh, as I mentioned, we're not in a good place right now as a team.

I, in my opinion, I think yesterday's one-nil loss was our worst loss of the season.

It was a match where Boston really gave us a lot of opportunities.

I understand Temwa Shawayino is out.

She'll miss the next few games as she's competing for Malawi in the African Cup of Nations.

I understand that Michelle Cooper was also out.

But Boston gave up many opportunities for us, bad turnovers in attacking positions, and for whatever reason, we could never capitalize.

On top of that, whenever we were attacking, whenever we had the ball, our shots and our passes in the final third weren't able to come to fruition.

So this leads me to be very concerned about how we're, uh, able to play not only on the road, but also whenever Temwa Shawayino isn't available.

We cannot be forced to rely on one player for our goal scoring and for our dominance on the field.

We still have to be able to come out with that same intensity each game.

Before you rip into them-

[laughs]

... can I play just a little pre-devil's advocate real quick?

Sure, sure.

So Michelle Cooper, besides Temwa being gone, Michelle Cooper is out with an injury.

Ellie Bravo Young is out with an injury.

Lorena is out with an injury.

Mm-hmm.

Claire Gagné is out with an injury.

Vanessa DiBernardo is not back to where she can play a full game yet, or even half a game yet.

So I just wanna say, because I don't think that means we should be playing at the level that we're currently playing, which is pretty bad.

Mm-hmm.

But I just wanna get all the excuses out of the way-

[laughs]
