Life is hard, and there's a lot of things we all have to deal with.
But at the very same time, my precious older brother was about to be in surgery for cardiac bypass.
And that took place on last Wednesday.
and we recorded a session without really knowing how it was going to go and we talked about it and i just want to start out by saying that god was very gracious to all of us last week my brother had a very difficult surgery but it went great and one of the things that often happens when someone has cardiac bypass surgery the doctors tell us that it Well, I guess our doctor that took care of Hollis said it always happens, kind of.
So always is a strong word.
But here we are one week out.
My brother's surgery was a week ago yesterday, and he is recovering very well in the home.
hands of dear friends in Murfreesboro where he is so loved and cared for and he's gonna stay there for a few more days and if everything continues to go well he'll get in a car on Monday and come home and so we are beyond grateful that this went well and I just want to tell you let me just finish that first part the the doctor said that one of the things that happens is to most people that have cardiac bypass surgeries, that after surgery they go through a period of depression, that they just feel different.
And warned everybody, warned him not to be surprised by it, that you're going to feel this way and it's going to go away.
You don't have to be treated for it.
And everybody around you is going to say, wow, he's really depressed.
Or sometimes they say it turns out into being less patient, that you just don't have – the same feelings toward people that you had before.
And you don't really understand why that's the case.
Well, my brother said, that's not going to happen to me.
And, uh, He didn't really say that before surgery, but he is sure saying it now because what's happening in his heart is unbelievable.
It's so precious to hear him talk about it.
It's just the sensation of gratefulness that he feels so, so grateful.
And so I'm grateful too.
And I just want you to know that he did well.
And we're glad that that part, at least so far, the hardest part is behind us.
And we're looking forward to a number of months probably of recovery before he can really be back to himself.
His friends are surrounding him, and he has a very good reason to believe that he'll have a normal quality of life following bypass surgery.
