610: If You’re a Robot, You Have to Tell Me

Hey, speaking of monkeys fucking footballs, how about that Apple relay? A private relay, huh?

Oh, that's a good one.

Yeah.

Yeah, especially after

that

hide my email thing a couple weeks ago.

Look, I... hiding your ip look first of all a private relay not the most reliable feature i have many network like i was trying to test it this morning and i was at like the coffee shop and it's like oh i tried to turn it on it's like this this wi-fi network doesn't support this feature and then i tried to turn it on at home and it told me my home network doesn't support that feature what the fuck is the point i guess my i mean i guess my ip address is all out there for everybody to see

I leave it on sometimes.

I turn it off sometimes.

When I was traveling in Europe, there were times where I had to turn it off.

There were times where I had to turn it on.

But it's interesting, as I guess you wrote, Dan, on Six Colors, that these Apple paid features for security don't work as well as they're supposed to.

I also think it's not okay that Apple gets these reports and doesn't say when they're going to fix them.

Because I think in both cases of these two recent ones with the private relay email addresses and the private relay, the fact that they're getting the reports and then not doing anything about it and not saying anything about it is not good.

They did fix the hide my email one.

But I feel like only after people went public about it being a problem, right? Yeah, I

mean, after quite some time.

I mean, they basically sat on it for a while.

They sit on a lot of

these problems for a while, it seems

like.

Yeah, I mean, I don't know how hard they are to fix or not.

I mean, I saw a report today, too, suggesting that the security reporting system has been overwhelmed with people using AI technology.

You know, like AI submissions for them to sort through.

So they had to shut it down for a while, which I also get.
