Brian Husen and his NHRA Top Fuel driver, Shawn Langdon, have been tearing through the class this season and seem to be fast-marching toward the title. There is a lot to talk about how it’s happened…
looking at your resume i mean i could list it off i could go through all the numbers from this year but brian as you know that would take forever because just this year alone you sean the coletta air group have been just on an absolute roll so to start broadly from your perspective can you just sum up how you all have gotten to this point and maybe just your your takeaways as one of the guys uh leading the way to all the success so far as i guess i would say so far so good right
But, um, in 2024 was my first opportunity to run top fuel car, you know, on my own, I guess is how you would word it.
Um, so it kind of went into that year, just building off of the foundation that Alan and I have worked on over the last 20 years, as far as, you know, how we run the car and how we set it up and how we go, you know, approach different scenarios.
But, um, So the first year was a pretty big learning curve, just getting my feet wet and getting comfortable with it.
And then the second year, going back to the same racetracks and making the adjustments for those conditions, started getting a lot more confident in that throughout the course of 25.
And then rolling into 26, I really felt confident, comfortable, capable, and focused on a lot of the areas where we needed to improve in the previous two years, just small areas.
I always try to look at the season at the end of the season look at it as an overall and look where we need to make improvements, you know, going into the upcoming year.
Um, just got to a point after a couple of years of running a car and keeping the guys around and, you know, the same clutch packs and things like that was able us to, uh, really, really put down some good runs and, you know, show up and be competitive every weekend.
You guys are a very humble group, and I appreciate that so much about you, Sean, everybody, even through this year, everything you guys have done.
It's been just very focused forward onto the next one, not too high, not too low.
You made a good point there about what these last two years have been like, because you come in in 24, as you said.
Sean, before that, had been winless, I think, since 2020, I believe it went back to.
You mentioned, you described it perfectly, right? It takes some time, everybody get used to working with each other, you finding your footing.
To go from five wins that you all had the last two years to eight alone this year, and you mentioned how we started to hone in on things that we needed to work on from year to year.
I mean, even just from last year to this year, Brian, if there was a specific thing or things that you guys really focused on, what would you say it is? Because the success and the foundation had been building.
Was there something last year that you guys really kind of focused on or felt like, oh, that's a piece right there.
