Now, for me, the reservation process really begins when I go through and wean a litter.

And as I'm weaning the rabbits, I check each one and I separate the bucks and the does.

Now, depending on the age of the litter and how mama's doing, I may leave the young does with mama for a little bit longer.

Instead of removing every rabbit at once, I can remove the young bucks, and first I'll do that, and then I'll allow the young does to remain with mama, just temporarily.

Now while I'm going through the litter, I'll also temporarily mark each rabbit inside the ear with a permanent marker.

That gives me a simple way to identify each rabbit until it receives a permanent tattoo or leaves for its new home.

So once the rabbits have been separated and marked, I put all the information on my whiteboard.

And what I do is I put down the parents and I'll draw two sections, a line down the middle, bucks on one side, does on the other.

And by the end of the litter, I can look down at the pad and see all the bucks, how many bucks I got, how many does I have in the litter.

And then I'll either turn the page or I'll make room on the page for a whole new section.

If I have my cards out there in the hutch, I can write down the date of birth, the breeding date, date of birth right away.

I'll create another section for each litter, including the parents, the date of birth, and how many bucks and does.
