The Prospect Promotion Incentive
Jul 9, 2026 · 1 hr 8 min · 10 segments
In this episode, Beck and Scully talk about prospects frozen in time before covering all of the promotions after the holiday weekend. Players discussed: Robert Calaz, OF, COL Luis Pena, 2B, MIL…
Today is National Freezer Pop Day, I believe.
We're going a little bit of a different direction this time around.
I'm going to let you kick us off with your holiday prospect comp.
Yeah, so you had the genius idea for the inspiration for this one.
It's pop-up prospects who have post pop-up frozen in their respective location, wherever that was, whether it's a level, performance, open to interpretation from there.
And I don't know why, but I went to my boy Robert Collage in the Rocky system outfielder.
He is at high a this year, and he had his breakout, let's say 2024.
Excuse me, he broke out, was having a fantastic rookie campaign and then got 13 games at low A where he posted a 950 OPS.
Last year, stayed at that same level, posted a 737 OPS.
So not that bad, but the power kind of dipped.
He looked like he was going to be this all or nothing, awesome power hitting prospect in the Rocky system that obviously captures people's attention.
He did have 10 home runs last year, but coming into this year, now he's got 68 games.
They did challenge him with a promotion to high A, and the OPS is 632, four home runs over that time.
He has struck out 87 times in those 68 games compared to only 18 walks.
So he's getting challenged by harder competition, and it's winning.
It's beating him.
So not sure if he's even around any top, definitely not any top 100 lists, but if he's even floating around in the 200 range these days after being that breakout in 2024.
So tougher times for Talaz, not materializing to have quite the ceiling we thought back then.
I couldn't find the tab or the mute button.
I was trying to look up where Chris has Robert Claus.
And then I finally found the right tab.
Couldn't find the mute button, so here we are.
You know, for those interested at home, I don't think Chris or myself were particularly high on Robert Collage at any point.
I did put him just inside the top 100 a couple of years ago following that 2024 breakout.
