The president of Alabama, Audubon, is a biologist, and he wrote a book called Southern Wonder.
And going back through all those, Alabama has always been in this spot where it never froze.
So the last ice age, the one we're still warming up from, most of America was under giant glaciers.
So right where we are here in Orange Beach, it would have snowed every year and it would have been colder, but it never froze.
Whereas all up and down the East Coast, the West Coast, that upper part of America, everything froze until 10,000 years ago.
And people don't know these things because in a lot of ways, nobody knew them until about 2002.
