The £10,000 Camera Bag Challenge

Should we get on with what we're going to talk about today? So in a moment, Nick and I, and this is in real time, we haven't prepared this.

It could go absolutely completely pear-shaped.

We're going to pick our 10K kit bag.

So we're going to basically decide what would go if we had 10K to spend.

I'm going to define what we mean by 10K, by the way, pounds, euros, whatever.

But If we had 10K to put in the bag, and whether we include the bag in the 10K, I don't know.

What would go in there, we can debate and discuss.

So we'll define that in a short while.

But to start with, there's been a few product announcements over the last week.

So the first thing that caught my eye, and I know it caught your eye, Nick, as well, is the Sigma 8512, which is available in Sony E and the L-Mount Alliance fittings.

So are you going to buy one?

I am tempted.

I mean, 85 isn't my favorite focal length, but I think that's in part because the Sony GM 85 that I've got, the 1.4, which is the first version, is a real lump of a lens and it's almost prohibitively heavy to you to knock about a dance floor with.

So, I'd be definitely, I'd be really keen to see that.

I think maybe a fifth, I'm going ahead of myself on what I would put into my thing, but that's a really interesting product and it's light.

How much is it?

It's $1,600 pounds, euros, probably all the same thing these days, aren't they? Yeah, they generally are.

Yeah, pretty much.

So about

the same price as a GM 1.4. 1.4,

yeah, GM.

yeah it's interesting because technically it was said it couldn't be done because with the sony as i understand that i'm not obviously an optics expert but what i understand with the sony v mount you do have some technical challenges because it's the same mount for both full frame and aps-c sensor so all the sony lenses have that sort of taper in to go into the into the lens mount and if you look at that lens it's got quite a sort of funnel shape from the main body of the lens to go into the into the lens mount but for the reviews i've seen in it and we haven't got one if you're listening sigma we'd love to get one but all the reviews so far suggest it's optically great which is what i'd expect from signal really yeah

I suppose if you can get as much of the business end towards the body side of the lens.

I think that's the thought, yeah.

Maybe that's how you can sort of flute it out sharply enough.
