Alan Gerber - The Well

Alan, welcome to the Nothing Shocking Podcast.

I'd like to introduce you to my co-host, Jeff Untied.

Alan, thanks for joining us tonight.

Good to meet you both.

We're excited to have you on, so let's get right into this.

This past May, you released your latest solo album, The Well.

Tell our listeners about the creative ideology behind this new music.

Well, the reality of it, the creative ideology, it all started during COVID, right? And Couldn't do much.

And I have my studio and everything at home.

And I just stayed home and wrote a ton of songs.

And then I started recording the album and took a long time.

I'm thrilled with this group of songs that I wrote.

Put lots of time into it.

I have great players on it.

And so I'm really proud of the songs.

What can I say? You don't have the album.

You just have the downloads.

Right, exactly.

I did want to bring up obviously this is a COVID pandemic creation.

Did you find the pandemic to be inspiring for you and your songwriting? We spoke to a lot of artists over the years that found creativity but also others found struggle in songwriting during the pandemic.

I found it.

an open door to creativity during the pandemic.

It was really it was it was really wonderful.

And in my house, my studio is in my house.

And my wife is a ceramic artist, a potter in her studios in the house.
