There is the practice and the benefits of the practice, and then there's the people in the practice.

who don't always measure up to the practice itself, including ourselves, right? Like we all have our stuff that we're trying to figure out and work through.

And also at the same time, you know, there are, you and I both know that, you know, there can also be a lot of spiritual narcissism.

yeah i mean that's like i think one of the dangers right it's like when you find the guru you know and as soon as that guru is put on a pedestal it's like a sinking slope from there you know it's like the guru is always within we have to remember that the guru isn't without it's within But it does become a slippery slope in a lot of these, a lot of different communities in spirituality, especially, I think, where it's so easy to elevate someone to a particular level, which doesn't really necessarily follow the tenets of what you're learning and supposed to be practicing.

And I think that's part of human nature is, you know, when you do identify a guru to put all your hopes and dreams into, you know, them fixing you or, you know, bestowing upon you special gifts that make your life better.

Um, I, I saw a lot of that when I was at MIU, um, you know, and I just had summer on and we were talking about, you know, just the Fairfield community is just lovely, lovely people.

And also at the same time, There were a lot of people there who really wanted to use spiritual gifts to control other people or to feel more powerful.

And I also saw a lot of the effects of what happens when those things get abused.
