It's Not Bad Behaviour — It's Their Nervous System: Supporting Neurodivergent Kids at Home & School with Meredith Dawson Can't you just sit still? Can't you talk less? Just calm down. Meredith…
Meredith DawsonGuestBrittany AndersonHostThose years of childcare and coaching and the school district and all of those kinds of areas where I'm sure there is a bit of red tape up as to what you are able to do.

I've always had like an interest in wellness and like supporting the mind and the body as a whole and in different ways with different tools.

When I had my own children and we came up against our own challenges, of course, as a parent, you want to be able to create those opportunities.

But I think the biggest thing for me was when I noticed, especially when I was still in the school that I had started off in, and we had a couple of significant events that happened in the local community that really highlighted how many of our children quietly survive it.

They're not like yelling and screaming and saying, look at me, I'm having an issue.

But when we stop to pause and to actually connect with them and see how much they're struggling inside, it made me question how we're properly serving the needs of our kids.

Because they're not learners coming through a door expecting to be filled with knowledge.

We're social creatures who are here to connect and who are able to unfold into understanding ourselves better through education and understanding the world better.

And so it's interesting how it just kind of naturally evolved, like I said, with my forest school, trying to make it a forest program, which I love being in the outdoors, but instead it became a social, emotional place for connection,

and a place for growth, like just such immense growth, both within each other, like with each other.

And now it's moved into, I can still get to teach in a beautiful school locally, but I also get to work with these families and it's taken all of my gifts and my knowledge together to be able to really support these families in finding like a true path, a more aligned path with education.
