LexG back with a look at the Star Wars entry Mandalorian and Grogu, as well as the latest Scary Movie, a few words about Mortal Kombat II and the bad experience of seeing it at a matinee, and various…
Not because it was so good, but because an altercation broke out when I went the first time.
I know there's a lot of people, you know, with moviegoing and on Twitter, which I reference way too much, uh, there will always be some guy complaining about the price of movies, the price of a ticket, a night out with the family, and it's al- [laughs] it's something, like, ridiculously inflated.
Like, "You know, to take my two kid- wife and two kids to see Super Mario, it costs $365." [laughs] And someone's like, "What? What are you doing that it's $365?" And they itemize that each kid needs his own Icee and popcorn, and the tickets were $23.49 or something in the IMAX, and it adds up, and you're like, "Wow, man." Uh, and then on the flip side of that guy, you get all the lecturers, all the reply guys who love movies and moviegoing and the box office, and everyone's such an ambassador for their theater's, you know, uh, discount plan.
"The Regal Unlimited, you could've gone for this," and, "We have, you know, just get on the A-List." Like, I don't, what, how does the A-List or that kind of thing work if you've got a family of four? You gotta coordinate it and get your kids the app, too, and you all click the seats and buy it in tandem.
Uh, e- but of course you always get the guy, "Look, you can go, hell, you can go Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM and skip the concessions, and I'm on the A-List and it's $5," or it's free or whatever.
Uh, that's great if you don't have a job and you wanna go to movies by yourself at 10:00, 11:00 in the morning on a workday for most of the universe.
You know, like, moviegoing, there's another guy, I watch his stream, and he's always like, you know, "Where else would I be Thursday afternoon at 2:00 but the, you know, first showing of Disclosure Day?" And I'm like, well, you know, a job might be nice.
[laughs] I remember one time I was talking about this, and some guy was like, "Yeah, I'm an attorney.
I can't see, like, you know, waylaying the trial, you know, telling the judge, like, 'Sorry, J- [laughs] Your Honor, I gotta skip this.
I'm sorry, I've gotta do a mistrial 'cause I have to be at the movies and use my A-List.'" But anyway, uh, yeah, people complain about, you know, the bad audiences at night, it's crowded at night, the prices, taking your four kids.
And someone will inevitably say, "Well, hey, you know, I never have a bad time when I go at 11:00 AM on a Wednesday." I went in, uh, Wednesday, on a Wednesday afternoon to see Mortal Kombat, and it was hor- like, a Friday night with, like, the high school class of 2032 would've been preferable to this guy who was this tubby guy who's probably been in that theater before.
And when I walked in, he was waving a phone around, and I was like, "I hope he's gonna put that away." And he was talking to himself, which right there you should do the check please and just bounce.
But, uh, he started sniffling really bad, and then sneezing, and then sneezing again, and sneezing.
You know, it's Mortal Kombat, of course, and it's, should be a super loud [laughs] movie, and the guy's achoo, achoo, achoo every, like...
