**Kent Politics Podcast – Show Notes** **Episode highlights:** **• Danny Dyer takes petition to Parliament** - Danny Dyer went to Parliament to hand over a petition signed by more than 340,000…
Well, this week, Sittingbourne and Sheppey MP Kevin McKenna, he's been in Downing Street alongside a famous face, and it wasn't Andy Burnham.
They were there to hand in a petition signed by more than 340,000 people calling for all water companies to be brought back under public control.
He was there with the MP and they were also joined by SOS Whitstable co-founder Ed Axton.
Now, Danny has been backing SOS Whitstable's petition and has made no secret of his disgust about the ongoing water issues at a rally that took place in Laidstown last month.
I think one of the recordings we had from there had to have several bleeps taking out.
Now, the 49-year-old said he has seen the impacts of sewage leaks firsthand on the Isle of Sheppey while filming the Dyers Caravan Park, which is a series produced by Sky.
And you might recognise as one of the contestants from Strictly Come Dancing this year.
As you might have guessed, the results weren't very good, weren't very good at all.
Now, this petition argues that privatisation has failed both the public and the environment, with water companies discharging enormous quantities of sewage into our rivers, lakes and the coastal waters, which is what they're concerned about.
Now, it also says that the money currently leaving the industry through dividends and executive bonuses, they should be reinvested instead into things like infrastructure, pollution prevention and just making our public services a bit more reliable.
Now, they handed that petition in to the Prime Minister's office at lunchtime on Wednesday.
