Andrew Frankel and Gez Medinger reflect on the six years of the podcast to date, introduce a gentle evolution of the format, and take on the many alternative forms of combustion – a subject so huge it…
I'll say this, more than I've smiled while driving a car in a really quite a long time, was you and I did a job earlier in the week up in the Brecon Beacons, which involved my caterer, my old 1997 Caterham 7 Supersprit.
It was one of those drives, I probably get one of these every five years, where everything just goes right.
Because we'd been thrashing the nuts off it all day, the car was absolutely singing.
You're just aware that this is a really special experience, and you're not in some gazillion-pound hypercar.
You're just in your Caterham 7, which would only be worth 20,000 quid if you lined it with gold.
It was just, it was one of those, I mean, I can remember because you turned up my house not long afterwards.
And I just had this, I was walking the dog down the drive and you turned up and I just had this stupid grin on my face having just put the car away.
And it's a really funny thing to say because I've had that car for years and years and years and I've done many great drives in it.
But I think of all the drives I've done in that car, That's probably the one I'm going to remember.
So I think I'm going to take it down to a rolling road because it's definitely over-fuelling at the moment.
