Autobahn

Well, number one, you know, from Prague to Stuttgart is pretty far.

And we drove that thing on the Autobahn, and it was raining the entire time.

And, like, they didn't have pan seals.

in this thing and so the whole pan's full of water and we're driving this thing and top speed is probably like 55 60 and uh there's like outings blowing past us going 100 miles an hour on the autobahn and uh dude it was the

autobahn on this thing

Yeah, we're on the Autobahn.

And so what a lot of people don't understand over in Germany is like their entire like we're the interstate system here in the States.

The interstate system over there is the Autobahn.

Tony Asher was the early guy.

Before you get away from the Beach Boys, I want to say that Fun Fun Fun also inspired Kraftwerk on Autobahn.

Did it really? Yeah, because they go, have fun, fun, fun on the Autobahn.

They have a lot of German lyrics too.

That was, what, 74, 75 when that came out.

They're pioneering electronic music.

And it's all about the German love of driving.

And I've driven on the Autobahn, and it's exhilarating and terrifying at the same time because you really can go as fast as you want.

And

Autobahn.

Autobahn, yeah, yeah.

I thought

that's a sort of distinctive sound from the 70s of that.

One was, one was the creation of the Interstate Highway System.

That was supposedly, um, [lip smack] inspired by Eisenhower as he, uh, rolled through, uh, conquered Germany, he admired the Autobahn.

So it was, the pretext was sort of a defense planning, civil defense type thing, uh, scheme.

Um, uh, and, um, of course, the...

These covered drives that in the past were really covered drives.

Like I saw it looked like an X5 today on the Autobahn in Munich and it is properly covered.

You don't really, you can't be too sure what it is.

So I think maybe brands are diluting their models because there's so many steps now before the car is actually here.

He's on the German thing.

The Autobahn, yeah.

No speed limit.

Just let it rip.

But when they freeze that stuff, it's game up.

So you're collecting pennies on the Autobahn where the Porsche turbos do 315 kilometers.

So good luck if you get your few pennies.

But if you get whacked, you're getting hit for a six and you're dead.

We're going to do it by rebuilding the army.

We're going to build the Autobahn.

We're going to start a car company called the People's Car, Volkswagen.

We're going to put this country back together.
