The Game Deflators dive into new Mario LEGO reveals, MTG’s Zeta booster packs, Gamescom 2026 highlights, Xbox Disc‑to‑Digital’s huge launch, and revisit Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball on Xbox…
Quick news.
I think it's seven different sets starting at $9.99 all the way up to $99.99.
Looking at these, this is what they should have done from the get-go.
The whole blocky Mario and blocky Luigi and blocky Princess Peach, any interactions with the lights and all of the stuff that they did, I felt like it was too much.
I think if they would have just come out and had a fun, normal LEGO experience...
I'm not saying it would have sold better because I'm sure they sold pretty well to begin with, no matter what, because it was Mario.
But for most Lego fans, I think that would have been the desired route to have actual minifigures of those characters.
So I'm glad that they finally went this route.
It sucks that it took them so long.
I think it's been, what, five or six years that they've had the other Lego set.
It was just after COVID, I want to say.
Has it been that long already? Yeah, I want to say it was like just after COVID that they released these, the initial Mario Lego and everything that came with it.
So the cool thing is more than likely you could still, you know, utilize the new minifigures with the older sets and you don't have to use the big blocky Mario.
You can, you know, kids can still play with like the normal sets and have the new Mario minifigures as well.
So it's kind of nice.
But yeah, so quick news.
I mean, they did the same thing with Pokemon.
They've released all these big blocky Pokemon like the ones I got before.
They don't have little mini, I know there's a little mini Pikachu and Eevee coming, but there's not like a, oh, here's a little starter set that you can get that's like Ash at the Pokemon professor's lab, and here's a little Squirtle, a little Charmander, and a little Bulbasaur, and they're all little mini figures, and they're cute.
That would sell like hotcakes, but they haven't done that yet either.
Yeah, but the approach they went with the Pokemon one was to go like the statue type route.
So you had more of a bigger battle block tech in them now.
Yeah, you had that big display feel to it is what they went for.
Now they're, you know, like you said, they're going to be releasing like different stuff.
