Okay.
Jimmy WetzelPANELIST
12:14
Also, everyone I've invited, they play video games, so they'll be like, oh my God, you're Banjo.
Trisha PaytasHOST
12:19
You know Banjo?
Jimmy WetzelPANELIST
12:20
Yes.

2 HRS 2 MINS LATER

Jimmy WetzelPANELIST
134:27
This is my 10th year of being a streamer.
Jimmy WetzelPANELIST
134:29
Yeah.
Jimmy WetzelPANELIST
134:29
And I feel very similarly about how it's like, yeah, like obviously people still play games and stuff like Vanell Mace is always playing a game.
Jimmy WetzelPANELIST
134:37
Like there's still big streamers playing games, but it's definitely changed as a platform.
Z-MoneyHOST
25:43
Doom for the Evercade.
Z-MoneyHOST
25:44
Also, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, the double pack, is coming out on the 30th of October.
Z-MoneyHOST
25:52
I'll be receiving my copy November 2nd because I pre-ordered that.
Z-MoneyHOST
25:55
I
RosalieHOST
32:19
And it was great.
RosalieHOST
32:19
I was playing one of my favorite Rare games, which is not Banjo-Kazooie.
RosalieHOST
32:24
It was Mickey's Racing Adventure on the Game Boy Color.
RosalieHOST
32:28
Because a lot of those, like...
Barrett CourtneyPANELIST
36:26
Everybody.
Barrett CourtneyPANELIST
36:27
Banjo-Kazooie changed the game when it dropped.
Barrett CourtneyPANELIST
36:29
Let me tell you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.HOST
36:30
That's crazy.
BoTalksGamesGUEST
6:59
People will talk about Mario 64 and how the camera's wonky, and I say, get used to it.
BoTalksGamesGUEST
7:03
Banjo-Kazooie genuinely really does hold up by, like, modern standards, though, I think.
N64 JoshHOST
7:08
Got it.
N64 JoshHOST
7:08
Okay.
Conner McCabeHOST
3:51
Thanks for having me.
Conner McCabeHOST
3:52
You were, you know, I can say for certain, you were on the Banjo-Kazooie co-op that we did in April.
Conner McCabeHOST
3:56
That's right, yes.
Conner McCabeHOST
3:58
So we've at least talked a little in 64 this year.

13 MINS LATER

Grant MooreGUEST
16:52
Sure.
Conner McCabeHOST
16:53
Versus
Grant MooreGUEST
16:54
Banjo-Kazooie-Tooie, you know.
Grant MooreGUEST
16:56
So I kind of cheated and grouped a lot of sequels together as like a whole thing.
PraxHOST
8:00
It's always been a very, very difficult thing.
PraxHOST
8:03
So the impetus for these decompilation and recompilation projects with regards to Super Mario 64, there's a Banjo-Kazooie one, there's a really popular Ocarina of Time one.
PraxHOST
8:15
But the reason why they got into all of these was for the sake of preservation and also having something that's greater than the sum of its parts.
PraxHOST
8:24
You can have something and you can play it in its original attendant format 100%, Or you can modernize it a little bit with doing widescreen things and having different frame rates and stuff.
Pete BeckettHOST
1:25
Went to an event.
Pete BeckettHOST
1:26
So for those who were listening to the podcast last week will know that myself and a few others attended MTM Comic Con in London, which happened at the Excel Center between the 23rd and 25th of October 2026. so for those who are not too sure what it is um i will explain so mtm comic con is an event that's run by repop uh it's a by uh it's a twice annual event that happens in london at a place called the excel center in uh the docklands of london which is in the east east end of the city so what you can imagine from it is that it's centered solely on comics that's not necessarily the case so It's an event where it celebrates pop culture, so comics, anime, video games, everything as such.
Pete BeckettHOST
2:24
They used to have EGX, which we've covered on numerous occasions before, and for those who are familiar, we also went to Comic-Con last year in October as well.
Pete BeckettHOST
2:37
They do have a video game section there.
Pete BeckettHOST
3:54
They had live shows that were on throughout the day, throughout the three days.
Pete BeckettHOST
3:59
But we can discuss those in a bit more detail because that was something that was actually on the agenda for the time that we were there.
Pete BeckettHOST
4:08
So what is our MTM Comic Con? anything you could think of so there was thousands upon thousands of people all there for the same thing they all love anime they all love comics they all love pop culture they all love video games and it is just an absolute gaggle of people who are just there to have fun all weekend long spend some money have some fun meet some friends and just have a good old time and let their woes go away for a good few days of the weekend so Like I said, what was there? You've got food sellers in certain parts.
Pete BeckettHOST
4:54
You've got drink sellers.
DillyHOST
9:54
Right.
DillyHOST
9:55
So what are they giving away, though? They're giving away this Evercade Nexus and Banjo-Kazooie double pack.
DillyHOST
10:02
If you are not familiar what this is, it is a handheld retro gaming console.
DillyHOST
10:07
Yeah, it's a retro gaming console.
Mark MorrisHOST
10:09
Like retro as in... 32 and 64-bit
DillyHOST
10:12
games.
DillyHOST
10:13
So like Banjo-Kazooie, like stuff that you would have seen on N64.
DillyHOST
10:16
N64, yeah.
Tom CampbellHOST
19:59
A bit like me.
Tom CampbellHOST
20:01
This week, June 22nd, 1998, sees the release of Banjo-Kazooie on the Nintendo 64.
Tom CampbellHOST
20:11
Platform game developed by Rare, published by Nintendo.
Tom CampbellHOST
20:14
You control Banjo the Bear, Kazooie the Bird, as they save Banjo's sister Tootie from the evil Gruntilda, later the inspiration for Seth Rollins.
Tom CampbellHOST
20:41
You have to solve a bunch of puzzles.
Tom CampbellHOST
20:43
And the level design is just gorgeous as well.
Tom CampbellHOST
20:46
Rare would be sold to Microsoft and the legacy of Banjo-Kazooie would be forever tainted when they did that.
Tom CampbellHOST
20:53
But we always have Banjo-Kazooie.
