Showcase week breakdowns, Nintendo legal updates, rising hardware costs, current playthroughs, and a retro review of Monster Rancher Battle Card. Chapters: 00:00 Intro 09:19 Magic: The Gathering…
Pickups.
So I don't have many this week.
One of my pickups is in the other room, so I could talk about that.
But first thing I got was Naked Singularity, the Magic the Gathering card here, which is really just all about having some fun in a multiplayer setting.
It's not what it sounds
like, John.
Not when you described it to me.
It is definitely a John type of card for a multiplayer.
So the idea here is you have a cumulative upkeep of three, meaning every upkeep you add, you have to pay three mana extra.
So your first upkeep that you play it, after you play it, three mana, then it's a cost of six, nine, 12, et cetera.
But there are cards out in the market that allow you to remove time counters, and that's how cumulative upkeep works.
You have time counters, which if the time counter's three, then in this case, it'd be a cumulative upkeep of nine.
So...
If you can remove those time counters, then you don't have a cumulative upkeep.
The whole process of this card is basically flip-flops land.
So, for example, all planes now produce mountain.
Islands produce forest.
Swamps
produce
plains, etc.
Wait, the opposite of plains is mountains?
Yeah.
I
mean, there's five,
so everything can't, like, have parallel.
