Peltoncast No. 494

right, you know what is the best right now? men's college soccer.

Hello.

Congrats to five of the national champion Huskies who were selected in last week's MLS Super Draft, including a pair of first rounders.

Now, an important piece of information here.

I learned a lot about MLS Super Draft eligibility.

I'm still not 100% sure I'm locked in on it because like many things with MLS, it's pretty nebulous.

But as I understand it, number one, you do not declare for the MLS draft.

You're just chosen.

Anyone who's been in college at least two years is eligible.

The teams retain your rights for up to a little bit more than two full years until the end of 2027 is the best I can tell.

So you can't just go back to college.

These players are not necessarily going to MLS just because they were drafted.

One who presumably is is midfielder Richie Amon, who is out of eligibility, was the highest drafted of these players, number eight to DC United.

Midfielder Zach Ramsey, the most outstanding offensive player of the NCAA tournament, was taken number 17 by Vancouver as a sophomore.

In the second round, the Sounders took midfielder Joe Dale, a Roosevelt High School product, at number 51.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Redshirt freshman defender Asher Hestad went number 56 to Colorado, and then Vancouver took sophomore midfielder Connor Lofey, number 89.

So the Whitecaps stay in local with a couple of Huskies in the MLS Super Draft.

Joe Dale was the highest Sounders draft pick since they did not have a natural first rounder.

All right, and congrats also.

We're still a week late on all of these because of the inexplicable timing of when the NFL awards, hands out its weekly awards.

But congrats to Jason Myers, who was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after his six field goals.

After kicking

zero field goals.

Yes.
