Justina PoskeviciuteHostSo we're saying, you know, it's about then external forces or external actors.
How do you see in general now with your reporting and looking at this war and other wars, you know, you reported from and wars you're interested in and you know about? Has your take changed? on diplomacy and the role of diplomacy changed since you started reporting? You know, not so preventing as well, but stopping wars.
And I will just say quickly before I let you answer that, for example, in some regions, if you say we need a diplomatic solution, be like, ah, so you're on the side of the and then, you know, they say what side, you know, you might be on.
But how do you see diplomacy now with your experience and all your knowledge?

I think it's always necessary because you cannot solve a conflict or achieve a goal just with strength, with weapons, with power.

I mean, diplomacy and violence are unfortunately very related, but at the same time, you need also dialogue.

And you need to remember... that in most cases, on the other side, you don't have monsters, right? I know that in the US there is a long debate about the need of going around and fighting against monsters, but it's too easy to describe it, to describe the world as divided between black and white.

So you need to sit down with the other parts and you need to discuss how to find a solution.

Or you have the capability of destroying this monster and of taking over the control of the area, the territory that it was controlling.

But we have been seeing in recent years and decades that this doesn't always work actually it never worked so far let's see what happens in iraq right the us went there to 2003 then obama took them took the u.s soldiers out in 2011 and then 2014 they went back and they're still there you know and um how many people have died there and so what's what what can be the solution out of this you you need to talk to the other side.

And that's why I'm so critical towards those who are trying to demonize Not only the other side, but the other people.

And they might be right that at the same time, there is a need to keep on fighting to have a stronger position when you will sit down on a negotiation table.
So we're saying, you know, it's about then external forces or external actors.
