Ketel Marte’s Diamondbacks Future, Baseball’s Randomness & Chavy’s Picks

But we will start with a story that really, I mean, we're both local here most of the year in Arizona.

And the story that has been played out here massively is another issue with Cattell Marte of the Diamondbacks and him going missing in action in Boston.

Up to 20 minutes before the game starts, Troy Lovello can't put the lineup card in because they don't know where Marte's at.

It starts on the road, they come back home, and everything we think is okay.

We don't feel like there's, hey, the player's going to get an MRI, he's on the 10-day injured list.

Well, he comes back, they do a little bit of a press conference, and then the night that he's back, after he's gone to the facility and done his rehab, random fans find him at the casino here in town while the team is playing a game at home.

And that kind of brings us to where we're at today.

Obviously, the reaction locally has been crazy.

I mean, it's just been a firestorm on the player as well as how the team has managed it.

When you take all this in, Javi, what do you take away from it? And have you ever seen anything quite like it?

My first reaction is unprofessional on Cattell's part, on his team's part.

Everybody says, well, you don't know the whole details.

And that's correct.

We don't know the details, right? So all we can do is discuss the facts and what we have in front of us.

None of this is good.

The way I kind of looked at this from a player standpoint is you kind of listen to his teammates and how they've responded.

None of them have come out and been like, supportive, right? I think Tory, his manager has really gone out on a limb for him the last few years to have his back.

I think from Tory's perspective, he's too close.

He's emotionally too close.

Like you, you definitely get invested in your players and you care about them.

But when you get kind of blinded by the reality of what's taking place and Cattell's taking advantage of the situation, right? And everybody's like, well, mental health and all this stuff may be true.

I'm not a doctor.

I can't diagnose this.

All we can do is talk about the facts that we have in front of us.

The optics aren't good.
