So, the, so to, for those who were unaware of Dean Heffernan, I'll give you a little bit of a backstory.

Uh, has played for Wollongong Wolves, Sydney United, Sutherland Sharks, Central Coast Mariners, uh, FC Nürnberg, Huddersfield Town, Melbourne Heart, uh, Liaoning Whowin, Perth Glory, the Western Sydney Wanderers, Bankstown City, Maitland FC, and Central Coast Mariners across his playing career, with his longest stint amongst those coming at the Central Coast Mariners from 2005 to 2010, which included that loan spell to FC Nürnberg.
Uh, he's also represented the Socceroos on two occasions, scoring one goal, and has previously coached the Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-League Women competition, as well as Central Coast United in the Football New South Wales League One men's competition.
And see, sometimes teases pay off.
We did tease a couple of weeks ago that we were going to be talking about the Wanderers' 2019/20 season in a little bit more detail.
Uh, and that's, well, look, we, we may or may not have known that Dean Heffernan was gonna be co- uh, announced as coach.
It was just a matter of when that was going to happen.
As I said, the director of women's football at the Central Coast, Matteo Maiorana, uh, said, "Having someone who is deeply embedded in the fabric of the club, who knows what wearing that yellow and blue jersey means, was integral as we established a team within our new ownership structure.
Putting aside his history with the club, Heff is a fantastic coach.
From the moment we first connected, we quickly established that we were on the same page with the type of football we wanted the team to play, and most importantly, the type of player we wanted representing the club." Yeah.
