Keith McKennaHOST
6:08
Yep, we'll start right there.
Keith McKennaHOST
6:09
So Group A has the current holders of the Australia Championship, South Melbourne FC, joined by City United 58, Canberra Croatia, and the Sutherland Sharks.
Keith McKennaHOST
6:19
Um, do you wanna kickstart us off, David, in what you see out of this group?
David FeeneyGUEST
6:24
Look, this to me is the absolute group of death.
David FeeneyGUEST
6:26
It is just a really, really tough group.
David FeeneyGUEST
6:29
Uh, I think, uh, during the course of the NPL New South Wales season, um, I had Sutherland Sharks more than any other team.
David FeeneyGUEST
6:35
I had them 10 different times in commentary, so I saw quite a lot of the Sutherland Sharks during the year.
David FeeneyGUEST
6:40
Their absolute goal the whole way through was to make the Australia Championships.
Jacob StevensHOST
46:16
It just, it makes
Lachie AvilHOST
46:17
you think about the potential, doesn't it? You know, even I think of the likes of Matt Yermann, who signed with Sutherland Sharks for the championship as well.
Lachie AvilHOST
46:26
Yeah.
Lachie AvilHOST
46:27
that kind of elk of players and there's been an obviously a rush of youth of australian out into international football that cannot possibly be sustained there'll be some bounce back clubs will will you know have opportunities for these players um i think of oh we're going to talk about him in a second so i won't bring up as an example now um little spoiler for later in the show but The idea that you can combine that with A-League loan players and, you know, some older, more experienced NPL players and a little bit of the all-star theme with some of the other better players for the league coming into that, you know, competition, maybe whether it be like Tasmania, WA, whatever, or Queensland, that kind of states... their qualifiers, you know, alone for those eight weeks or whatever, it makes you think that the talent pool is going to be exceptional for what is right now a condensed competition.
Chad TownsendGUEST
34:40
I think the big thing that the Roosters managed was they managed their final series.
Chad TownsendGUEST
34:45
Then they played the Sharks on the six-day turnaround.
Chad TownsendGUEST
34:47
The Dolphins on a six-day turnaround when the Dolphins had the week off and they physically bashed the Dolphins.
Chad TownsendGUEST
34:53
And then they come out in the grand final and they do what they did.
Chad TownsendGUEST
35:42
Thanks.
Chad TownsendGUEST
35:43
It's been a huge weekend, actually.
Chad TownsendGUEST
35:44
A lot of 10-year reunions with the Sharks crew, SCN League.
Chad TownsendGUEST
35:48
We called the game yesterday on air from 12 to 11 p.m. It's been a big weekend, but I'm very, very grateful, very blessed to be a part of the team and looking forward to the upcoming World Cup and then doing it all again next season.
PeteGUEST
21:59
What we can actually build upon is all these, that football culture Michael spoke about is And grow that across Australia and create these rivalries.
PeteGUEST
22:08
Maybe it's, you know, maybe it's Sutherland, Sutherland Sharks, sorry, I should say, in a few years time versus Sydney FC.
PeteGUEST
22:17
Maybe it's, you know, Lions FC versus Raw in the future, right? Which would be, you know, quite an interesting game in itself.
PeteGUEST
22:28
If we don't invest in the next level down and create the ability for these clubs to step up and create these rivalries, the game's going to go stale.
Jacob StevensHOST
46:16
It just
Lachie AvilHOST
46:16
makes you think about the potential, doesn't it? I think of the likes of Matt Yermann, who signed with Sutherland Sharks for the championship as well.
Lachie AvilHOST
46:27
That kind of elk of players, and there's been obviously a rush of youth of Australian out into international football that cannot possibly be sustained.
Lachie AvilHOST
46:35
There'll be some bounce back.
AdrianGUEST
45:40
It's going to be great to see Simeon and Mick up there.
Keane McKennaHOST
45:43
So to talk about, you know, some of the other high-profile signings that have been moving around the NPL sphere, I want to talk about, you know, Sutherland Sharks and what has gone on there.
Keane McKennaHOST
45:54
You know, 11 players have left the Sutherland Sharks, including Nicholas Olsen and Richard Suecki as kind of the two big main players.
Keane McKennaHOST
46:02
Now, Nicholas Olsen is going to be playing in the championship for the Wollongong Wolves.
Keane McKennaHOST
46:06
He's making the move back there.
AdrianGUEST
49:10
At the end of the day, like I said, I'm a fan of Perko.
AdrianGUEST
49:12
He's going to back what he does and we'll see what happens.
Keane McKennaHOST
49:16
Well, and that's the thing, like, you know, you can't deny Perko what he's done at NWS Spirit and now Sutherland Sharks.

welcome back listeners welcome back to a special broadcast i'm getting in early this week uh it's saturday and there's a lot of information that's coming through for the npl and the sutherland sharks at this current time now there's quite a bit that's been happening but the information is coming across in drips and drabs and we're just not able to get any particular sources that are totally accurate and the reasons why uh things are happening now the things that are happening at the club are that there's been a huge shake up at the club there are a lot of players leaving up about 11 in total what i'm able to receive from my sources and obviously from instagram is that these are the players who are leaving nick olsen thai span amarangan yani nicolaou jean fiorese danny choi tarik maya takia fuka ty mcgowan richard shuecki lachlan ma and jackson barter now this has come up through instagram but i have one problem i'm going to be reporting on the sutherland sharks for let's say the australian championships here and there and obviously first season 2027 npl what i would require for not just for myself and this show but obviously for the supporters out there because a lot of people have been in contact with either verbally or via let's say the phone no one is actually able to put a finger on what is happening and there's no information that's coming through to any supporters or anybody for for that matter that tells us why these players are leaving As I said in my previous show the other week, that, hey, a lot of people are a little bit skeptical, a lot of people a little bit upset as to what's happening.
AngeHOST
2:03
And I'm quite concerned because the new coach came in from Spirit.
AngeHOST
2:10
And Perkovic had said that this was going to be a project, let's say a three-year project.
AngeHOST
6:22
Seems like an experienced player.
AngeHOST
6:24
Lachlan Satute, he's coming in from MacArthur.
AngeHOST
6:28
now Lachlan he played for Sydney youth I'm not too sure what position he plays but we'll find that out in the coming weeks now these players are coming into the club but are they here for the Australian championships or are they here for NPL season 2027 this is where the supporters need to know and we can find out from a couple of ways first of all I understand that there's video highlights on the website of episodes of the Sutherland Sharks games they've played, etc.
AngeHOST
7:04
I love it.
AngeHOST
7:05
I can't wait to watch it every time it comes out.
Adam PeacockHOST
13:01
It's a separate competition, so it's not on the screens of Channel 10 or Paramount.
Adam PeacockHOST
13:06
So SBS are carrying a couple of games as well and can only enthuse about the experience you'll have if you're in the Shire in Sydney and get down to Sutherland Sharks, a home game.
Adam PeacockHOST
13:17
And they'll host one at three o'clock on the afternoon of Saturday, October 17 against South Melbourne.
Adam PeacockHOST
13:21
And that one will be live on SBS.
Alex MolchanoffHOST
44:05
So make sure you go and have a look for that.
Alex MolchanoffHOST
44:07
scplaybook.com.au Matty's had his Sutherland Sharks Australian Championship draw drop.
Alex MolchanoffHOST
44:13
So we'll give that a little plug as well.
Alex MolchanoffHOST
44:15
Very exciting opening fixture on a Saturday afternoon in about a month's time, Matty.
Kim McKennaHOST
13:55
So they're really shaping up with a new team and that might be something that we have to do next week.
Kim McKennaHOST
14:00
Then on the Saturday, the one on SBS is Sutherland Sharks and South Melbourne FC.
Kim McKennaHOST
14:06
South Melbourne start their Australia Championship defence down in the Shire and Sutherland Sharks get to kick off at home against the current champions.
Kim McKennaHOST
14:15
Broadmeadow Magic and West Appia face off at Magic Park on the Saturday, also at 3pm.

Kim McKennaHOST
