John Harbaugh and Big Blue take Dallas behind the woodshed in a 28-20 win. Matt Mosley & Ed Warder react to this Doomsday scenario.
But Ed, um, I mean, we'll, we'll hit a lot of different areas, but I would just say, uh, a, a very embarrassing performance overall by the Cowboys, especially after the training camp and a preseason of all the talk and all the hype, and then some of it centered on having a new young defensive coordinator, new scheme, new personnel.
Yeah, I think, uh, one of these teams looked like a last-place team, and it wasn't the Giants, who have finished in last place in the NFC East the last two seasons.
You know, I think, I think under John Harbaugh in his first game, the Giants were the better team.
Cowboys, you could argue, actually had better performances in Mike Zimmer's only season as a defensive coordinator in his week one debut, and in Matt Eberflus's, uh, debut last season, even though they allowed the most points in NFL history over those, uh, two seasons.
I mean, Christian Parker's first game as the youngest defensive coordinator in franchise history was not at all what we expected.
They had great success with their secondary in Philadelphia, but he's never called plays.
That's tied for the, with the Jets for the most in the NFL, and they did it again, uh, in week one against an opponent that was highly unlikely to achieve that.
The Gi- the Giants, now, it was under different coaching staffs, but the Giants had not scored a single touchdown in any of their last three season openers.
And I thought the Cowboys defense made, made the Giants look like a Bill Parcells, Tom Coughlin, you know, beat you up, punch you in the nose, and not give you back the ball kind of a team.
And whether, whether this is m- you know, what we expect the rest of the season or not remains to be seen, but it's not the start that everybody expected.
And yet Jackson Dart goes out tonight, throws for more yards than Dak Prescott and rushes for more yards than Javonte Williams.
I mean, can you fire Eberflus again? Who can you [laughs] can, can blame some of this on him? It is the, uh, the Doomsday Podcast.
