I think if you are making the comparison, if Wright could handle Quinnen, I think he's going to have a similar plan for handling Simmons.

They got better than average defensive tackling, Kenny Clark, in that trade.

They got extra draft picks.

Those draft picks allowed them to trade for Quinnen Williams, one of the best defensive tackles in the league in the middle of last year.

He came on and the run defense got a lot better when he joined.

Jerry, I know you all like to have guys in the building before you give them long-term deals, and it's been said that much about Jordan.

That approach wasn't taken with Quinnen, but what is there still to see? What are you still looking for from Pickens before you go down the long-term contract road?

Well, first of all, let's just talk about any player.

It's opening day for us this weekend.

A lot to like with Dallas' pass rush.

And, of course, their interior players with Clark and Quinnen Williams, who they acquired via trade last year.

Think that's going to be a problem for the Giants.

Also, the Cowboys, they are plainly a better football team.

They drafted Caleb Downs in the draft.

They paid Quinnen Williams.

He's in the fold.

He's locked down.

I will say I didn't have them making the playoffs because I think the NFC is really tough.

And I do have a lot of questions about this defense, but I also wouldn't be surprised if if this was actually a pretty solid defensive unit, if they took a big step forward from being the disastrous defense they were last year, just because there is a lot of talent here, like getting Deron Bland back for a full year, getting Overshawn back and healthy, adding Caleb Downs in the secondary, but also Kobe Durant.

Adding Rashawn Gary up front along with a full year of Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams.

Just getting rid of Matt Eberflus.

It's about resetting the clock a little bit.

You don't think they would take 20-year-old Quinnen Williams right now if they could start over? Of course they would.

That was the silliest of the argument that I had made against me.

You can still do that with a 20-year-old Quinnen Williams, and Will Echols might be that kind of player.

100 and then the last pick possibly even more controversial than the other one i'm not sure was ashton hampton the uh of course clemson cornerback now i like this pick because i think hampton really fits the archetype of cornerback that aaron glenn has seemingly prioritized i know they just drafted d'angelo ponds but even ponds i feel like because hampton is what six three two hundred pounds he's big he's a big boundary like solidified outside cornerback and You look at the Azaria Thomas pick, you look at the Brandon Stevens, Steven signing, they brought in the Sean Wright.

Sean Wright's like six, four.

I mean, I, I don't think he's, he's gotten to the point where the Giants hoped he would be.

Just looking at that right there, I'm expecting Quinnen Williams should have, uh, a lot of opportunity when it comes to going up against that center, John Michael Schmitz, the rookie Francis Maunawa, who, you know, and we all expect to probably be a very good player at some point, but this is game number one.

Uh, from, from an interior standpoint, I mean, I know Andrew Thomas at left tackle, certainly one of the best in the league, but, uh, I, I would expect this should be a Quinnen Williams game.

Uh, and even Kenny Clark, the rest of the interior, interior guys, uh, should be able to take advantage there.

Again, I would agree with Paul that this defensive line, I mean, you know, Their offensive line has Smith-Schuster at centre, who Massey-Smith looked were all pro against.

You know, and you're talking about now we've got Aubonnier, we've got Quinnen-Williams and you've got Kenny Clarke, manning those three tackle, those three lineman spots.

I think that's, you know, they should be able to do a job.

And, you know, the other, John Runyon Jr. and Illunier and all that, you know, don't rate their offensive line at the moment.
