35: The Did You Know Real Estate Show staring Christopher Smitherman

So I'm going to start off today's show with a little bit of a grievance.

All right.

Now, I'm usually a pretty upbeat, you know, pretty happy kind of person.

But, you know, something happened Tuesday that kind of caught my attention for all the wrong reasons.

So many of you remember back, I guess it was about 20 years ago, and what was happening with our economy, what was happening with the housing market.

I mean, basically what was happening everywhere.

Now, I remember that time because I had just moved back from Michigan.

I lived in Michigan for five years.

It was a good experiment.

It was fun.

I still have some good friends up there in Michigan outside of Detroit that I go and visit every once in a while.

But I went through three layoffs in four years.

Companies that were hiring and then not hiring and then laying people off because nobody was buying anything.

Banks were in trouble.

I mean, it was just a very bad time.

Okay, so...

I'm going to be honest with you.

Having been fired up all week because while I was watching TV, now I don't usually watch the cable news channels.

I normally don't watch the local news channels, maybe just to get the weather reports.

Reason being is, as many of you know, and as you watch the news, you know it's nothing but death, destruction, the sky is falling, the world's coming to an end, and we're all going to be dead.

That's essentially how they do things, right? Well, some idiot Some moron on one of these cable news channels had the audacity and the irresponsibility to compare the housing market right now to 2008.

Now, think about what that number does to people.

For a lot of you listening right now, 2008 isn't just a year.

It's a neighbor who lost their home.

It's a retirement account cut in half.
