Episode 384 - Assorted News and The Basketball Tournament Draft

yeah so we're gonna do a brotherhood draft so duke was to field a team uh we'll get into that a little bit and provide some more details but fellas let's start uh so javin looks like javon delorier is coming back home i think he's been with the team pretty much most of the summer here i don't know if that was like his trial run his audition call it what you will but it will take he's going to be sticking around as the new player development assistant um fellas thoughts on on jab coming back and spazzy javi here a little bit

i

mean another kind of just lanky forward like you know j-rob was was good at it um obviously got called up to the big league so um yeah exactly so fits the mold fits the mold i suspect

Yeah, and look, you don't have to be some Polish expert post player to be a good instructor, right? We all know that Javin maybe wasn't the most skilled offensive player, but he did play four years for Duke.

So, you know, you got that kind of loyalty built over four years so yeah it's cool to see him come back um and i saw did you guys watch the coach dildy mic'd up video so yeah uh javin was doing a lot of the actual playing against the players in that video i don't know if you guys noticed that but it seems like that's kind of going to be a little bit of his role like almost like a heightened practice player

Yeah, and if you can tell, John has really built this outside of probably DILTY, really, and not that DILTY can't, but of younger guys that can get out there and kind of watch what I do as well, is what I say.

Now, I don't think we're going to have Javin working with Sauron on the break and how to not travel on the break, right? But at the same time, to your point, You can't, like, Joel Okafor can't teach somebody how to be Joel Okafor.

Like, some of that is just what he's got in, like, his package.

But what Javin can do is, like, hey, you need to learn how to read screening angles.

Like, you need to learn how to cut, when to dive, like, how the ball is going to come off the bat.

Like, you need to understand gap play.

Defensive

rotations.

All the things that he did very well that got him on the floor.

That's kind of what you want to be emphasizing, especially knowing John.

He's all about the margins.

He's all about the details.

And I like it.

I really like it.

I know we pick on Jeff.

Shouts to Stephanie.

Yeah.

I mean, I love it from that.

Like that's the type of guy that you want.

A Tower Thornton, a Javin Delorier.
