Parents in a Maryland community are rallying behind a school bus driver who was fired after she stopped to let a student rescue an injured kitten.

Cynthia Morgan, who is 67, worked as a school bus driver in the Hartford County Public School District for 11 years.

She was recently removed from her route after she let a North Hartford Elementary School student get off the bus to pick up the injured kitten.

Uh, parents like Caroline unpronounceable last name say they understand the safety concerns, but believe that removing Morgan from her route was excessive.

Video recorded on the Heap School Road shows little traffic, a detail parents say is important to understanding what happened.

This is a rural community, and here's what I wanna know from our bus drivers, either current or retired.

Do you have a policy, how strict is that policy, that you never leave the controls of the bus when children are on the bus? And my guess is that is a very black and white, zero exceptions allowed policy, so that if you're on that bus, you are solely responsible for those children.
