And speaking of excited to get going, you know, talk a little bit about once you took the role, you know, a little bit about just one, retaining the roster, and then two, building the roster for the 2027 season.
Yeah, the balance taking over was trying, okay, how do we build a roster? How do we build a staff at the same time? Really, the number one challenge has been evaluating what we currently have on the roster, just because just coming from level to level, that's been the number one challenge.
It's been Countless phone calls with our current guys, our returning guys, trying to just hear them talk the game, try to get a feel for who they are as players, and then try to get a feel for what our needs were in building the roster.
They graduated 14 guys last year, so quite a big turnaround anyway, or turnover anyway.
And then We brought in 20 new players as well, both in the freshman and junior college ranks.
Our number one challenge now is trying to blend the two groups of returners and new guys, right? As with anybody in the country, especially at this point, in this transfer portal and transfer heavy era of college baseball.
Our goal is to really blend the two groups into guys, understanding that there are no returners versus new guys.
Like we're all Vanguard lions and we're trying to figure out how to, how to get this thing right and try to build this thing together.
