Ben Orloff

Yeah, I mean, hey, I've been blessed to and lucky enough to be around some unbelievable coaches, to work under some unbelievable people.

Brock Ungridge, Nathan Choate, and Ben Orloff at Irvine, I played for and worked for him too.

At the division one level, I was lucky to just be around unbelievable influences, right? And so when this opportunity opened and kind of presented itself, really like from a family standpoint where my wife and I were talking like, hey, this is a great opportunity for us to kind of cut our teeth as a head coach.

And I mean, in a place of Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, in a program that's in year three in Division II transition, in a program that's been very successful for a long time.

And Coach Gillespie was a beauty.

And as a player, he was tough.

he was he held standards he you he got the best out of you every day um as a coach when i was coaching for him he was like one of my best friends grandpa's and and and he let me in on so much that i'm forever thankful for and then um going around i mean hey the the even through high school like spending a year under brett k and then at j sarah and then up to satellite college with summer mccartney and then um ultimately back at irvine under ben orloff like where where benny is is the best baseball person i've been around and i've just ripped everything from him and really tried to install it here at Vanguard from a baseball standpoint.

And then from Coach Choate, who's now at Wazoo doing an unbelievable job.

I had a backup just in case you guys sniped me.

But just for three years hearing Ben Orloff say, this is our best pitcher.

When we have a chance to win a game, we insert him in the game immediately.

And I know the win is a stat fraught with randomness, but the kid went 22-5 over three years.
