October 8, 2026 - Gregory Maguire on "Galinda," Farm Fashion, and Dawn M. Simmons on "Covenant"

And Gregory Maguire is here.

Welcome back to The Culture Show.

Thank you

so

much, Jared.

Delighted

to be here as always.

Well,

great to see you.

Let me just start with.

what we just heard ariana grande and the dedication in your book to kristin chenoweth and ariana grande

kristin chenoweth and ariana grande and the dedication continues and to all the scintillant galindas glinda's past present and to come because there will be many more long after i'm gone there will be galindas singing popular at their tryouts to get into glee club etc uh There have been so many of them.

Annaleigh Ashford, Megan Hilty, Kendra Kessenbaum.

The list of people who have become stars and cut their teeth on the role of Glinda slash Glinda is Legion.

But there's something special about what Kristen Chenoweth did in setting the...

the meets and the bounds of the Glinda character.

And there's something extraordinary that Ariana Grande added to it that lent a depth and poignancy that was even absent from the Broadway production, I believe.

And have you managed to have some sort of relationship, friendship with the stream of Glindas?

You know, if I had curly hair, I would plump it up a little bit in self-pride, but I'm bald, so that isn't effective.

Yes, I have to some extent.

If they are playing any place, I usually go around and say hi.

And some of them have done favors for me, and they all greet me as if I'm kind of a brother-in-law, one of the ones they really like as opposed to the ones they detest.

Well, you're always good at a dinner table.

We know that.
