York Walker

There has long been a legend about early 20th century Mississippi bluesman Robert Johnson that his astonishing command of the guitar could only be attributed to the simple fact that he had made a deal with the devil, trading his soul for his talent.

Playwright York Walker takes that legend and gives it a new life in the play Covenant, a southern gothic thriller set in a small Georgia town in 1936.

We find Johnny Honeycomb James returning home after a lengthy absence transformed, his stutter gone, his music a hell of a lot better, and his neighbors left to speculate about what happened while he was away.
