Don't Inject Gold

I got some randomness for you.

I'll be the judge of that.

It's tech randomness.

And I actually added this a few weeks ago because it was hot off the press then, but I pushed it back.

It doesn't matter.

Carry on.

Anyway, okay, so it's that whole, they've done a study or a paper's just been published on nuking an asteroid in flight.

So what was the one with Bruce Willis where he goes up and sticks all the dynamite? I want to

say Armageddon.

Yeah, I think it is Armageddon.

Yeah, that's right.

But you don't need to do that.

So what they did is they, for the experiment, they used a vacuum pump.

thing.

They created a

vacuum

and they used like coffee bean sized rocks

composed of quartz and silica.

And they're what, a mini nuke?

No, and then they blast them with x-rays.

Oh, okay.

And in less than 20 millionths of one second, the rocks were accelerated to roughly 70 meters per second.

Oh, wow.

Just from

X-rays.
