What is your number? What is the baseline that you're operating from? And why does it even matter? This is the question that I want you to be able to answer for yourself, because if you have ever thought that you went from zero to 10, maybe erupted over something small or lost your shit with your kids, you might think that you're starting from zero.

But if you've grown up in a home where you've had to walk on eggshells around a parent, be able to watch out for their shift of a tone or a mood, be able to decipher between what they say and what they actually mean if their words don't match their behavior, you grow up hypervigilant.

And that means then that your baseline could be as high as around a five or a six.

And so now if something happens with your kids, if they have a big emotion, if they won't do what they're asked, if they won't go to bed, if they won't empty the dishwasher or have a huge reaction getting off a device, You might feel that this really gets your back up, that you're really struggling to stay calm in those moments.

And you might question yourself and think, what's wrong with me? Why aren't I able to be calm like other parents? And a lot of the times it's because you're not starting from a zero.
