Jovin Webb

So let's talk about how you ended up on Blind Pig Records.

Because a lot of people, when they look at your career, they think about American Idol.

And they don't necessarily associate American Idol with a blues label.

So how did you end up with Blind Pig?

I went and did the song Whippin' Post.

which is very blues, rocky, and it's just Southern rock and roll.

And I guess Blind Pig just heard that in a couple of the songs I did, and they heard something deeper, and they heard the blues, which they're a very huge label over time.

And for them to look at me in that way was kind of cool.

Yeah, and on this new album, you have a cover of Whip and Post.

You finally put that out as a recording.

Why was now the right time to put that out?

I had always wanted to do my version of it.

Like I said, I did it on American Idol.

And I was like, I seen like the views on YouTube and all that stuff.

And it was like passing the original version of whipping posts and then some kind of way it got taken down.

And that just inspired me more.

I was like, I want to actually do my version of this song and put it out.

So I was blessed enough to be able to have it on the sophomore album.

And I think it's more fitting than what it would have been on my first album.

So I'm just happy to have it out now, finally.

How much did that song change your career?

It was the game changer.

That song got me ears around the world.

I mean, more people than I ever thought would be listening to me is because of that song.

So I'm so thankful for everything that song has done.
