The grandmother is there to be present and to be patient and to just give the little girl ways to deal with her discomfort So she gives her a big butterfly hug and then she shows her how to give herself a butterfly hug.

And she gives her what I call a mantra, but a little song that, you know, that she sings with her, you know, butterfly, butterfly in the sky.

And I think the role of a parent and a grandparent is never to shame a child because they are nervous or afraid or hesitant or whatever, never do that.

Well, of course you're afraid to do that because you know what? You've never done it before.

Or maybe the last time you tried, it didn't work out so well, but you know what? You can try it.
