WHO ELSE COULD GET OFFER SHEETED THIS OFFSEASON?

Well, I'm still pretty shaken up because the league, as we know it, has completely changed.

I truly believe that.

The NHL, that was a historic move that Danny Breer did.

It's going to be known as Danny Breer Day in the NHL.

He just completely changed the way that general managers are going to operate.

I don't know.

Who knows? I mean, I don't think all general managers have the guts to do what Danny Breer did, but he just opened up a can of worms.

So I guess to dig more into this and for backstory, if people somehow didn't hear the massive news that went down, obviously the Philadelphia Flyers signed Leo Carlson to a five-year $90 million offer sheet.

$18 million AAV, which is the highest in NHL history.

It's a whole million dollars more than Kirill Kaprizov signed for last year.

And the Ducks have a week to match.

So they have until Friday to match the offer.

If they don't match the offer, Leo Carlson will become a member of the Philadelphia Flyers.

And the Ducks will receive four first-round draft picks.

And this is something that's happened a ton before in the NHL with offer sheets.

And majority of the time, they are matched.

I guess a couple of recent scenarios where they weren't.

Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway, Jesperi Kokanyemi.

Those are all kind of deals where...

The team that put out the offer sheet kind of realized that the team was in some sort of cap crisis and they wouldn't be able to match those offer sheets.

And those are more sort of second-tier players.

But a big-name star like this, it has been some time.

I think Shea Weber... deal actually just ended on july 1st that was a 14 or 15 year contract before the cba kind of redid everything but it's rare to see something like this especially for a homegrown talent for a top five draft pick usually those players are just extended early by their teams and well
