And one definition I like that I think we can all relate to is the definition Brene Brown gives us, which is, Shame is the intensely painful feeling, a feeling that we have in our bodies, a painful feeling or an experience of believing that we are flawed and unworthy of love and unworthy of belonging.

It's a painful feeling that is coupled with a belief that we are not worthy of belonging, that we are not worthy of being loved.


However, as a healer descended from Curanderas across Mexico and Central America, I was trained to see that shame itself doesn't live in behaviors.

It lives in the nervous system and in the story that a person has decided about their own worth, about who they are.
