Have a Negroni, have two, and get the cream sauce. Matt and Bob are back to review Tony, the new Anthony Bourdain biopic starring Dominic Sessa. Rather than attempting the usual cradle-to-grave…
So it was interesting to me.
The first thing I was thinking is I saw the trailer, didn't really know what to make of it.
You've watched all the shows.
We've both read shows.
I know you've read some of his other works as well.
You've traveled to a lot of places that he's recommended.
I mean, he is your guy.
And so when a biopic comes out about one of your guys, I think a lot of times the really hardcore fans of the biopic subject a lot of times don't like the movie.
I just kept moving past
it.
But then you texted me and you said, I think I have my biopic that is worth a shit answer for the Analysis Awards this year.
So I was like, oh, cool.
It won a haze over the Bourdain biopic.
So I went in a lot more optimistic than what I was thinking might come out of this movie.
The biopics are very, very hit and miss for me.
But I honestly, this
one was interesting because until he says Anthony Bourdain at the end, until he sheds Tony and he becomes Anthony Bourdain at the end, you really don't even know that this movie is about Anthony Bourdain.
It could be a sequel to The Holdovers and the kid that was in the Ivy League high school is now in college and is in Providence trying to get laid and learning how to shuck oysters.
Like it really... 100%.
