"Once The Fuse Is Lit, I'm Off To The Races" — Tamer Hassan Spills The Raw Truth On Addiction & Survival

In this episode of *Addiction to More*, host Gareth Gallagher is joined by one of British cinema’s most recognizable faces, **Tamer Hassan**. Known for his roles in *Layer Cake*, *The Football Factory*, and *Game of Thrones*, Tamer steps behind the tough-guy persona to share the hard truths of a life shaped by fame, excess, and addiction. He reflects openly on his rock bottom moment in a London hotel, the strain addiction placed on his family, and his journey toward celebrating a full year of sobriety. Together, Gareth and Tamer delve into the power of fellowship, overcoming ego, screen addiction among modern youth, and the crucial importance of men speaking out about mental health. **Key Takeaways** **Addiction Is an Equalizer:** No matter your status, career success, or physical toughness, addiction treats everyone on a level playing field. **Discipline Over Inspiration:** Long-term recovery requires daily commitment, early morning structure, and continuous honest self-reflection. **Dropping the Ego:** Removing ego from personal interactions allows for genuine connection, accountability, and peace of mind. **Human Connection Over Screen Time:** Digital overconsumption isolates people; restoring community values and direct communication is essential for youth mental health. **Breaking the Stigma for Men:** Reaching out for help during dark times is not a weakness—it is an action that saves lives.
