TEH 275: What to Do With Old Macs. A day in the Life of  a tech creator.

Um, as we do, we, over the years, cycle through our, uh, our machines.

I got myself a new desktop machine earlier this year, which pushed the previous desktop machine down into my basement.

It's...

I'm using it as a, a faux NAS almost.

But that in turn pushed, um, an older previous desktop machine, um, off to the side, and I'm not really sure what to do with it.

For many years, I used what is referred to as a late 2013 Mac Pro.

Mm.

Um, it's, for those that remember those, this is the paint can era, right?

Yeah.

It was the nice tubular design.

I, I really liked the design of the thing.

I loved it.

I had one.

I had the same one, and yeah.

Yeah, it, um...

You know, it was, it was a machine that I was actually proud to have on my desk instead of next to my desk.

Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

Right? I mean, it just, it was kinda cool.

Anyway, it's been running for, gosh, I guess that makes it 13 years now.

Um, and it's been running continuously.

You know, obviously with a few moments of downtime, but it's pretty much been running for 13 years continuously, doing various things.

I think I've reinstalled the OS on it once.

It's, you know, it's a, it's a fine machine.

You know, 12 cores, 64 gigabytes of RAM.

Um, it, you know...
