Mac Studio

Uh, I think I've talked about this on the show.

I would love to get a new Mac Studio.

Jumping $2,000 incrementally higher in price to get a new computer is just a non-starter at this point.

And the good news is, for Apple investors, is there are plenty of people inside this walled garden that will continue to spend, and I don't think they're in trouble.

Uh, I know I've seen people running it on three Sparks, but I thought I saw somebody doing a one-bit version on two DGX Sparks, which would raise a lot of questions in my mind if that's any good.

But somebody's also running it, I, I think a two-bit version on a Mac Studio, probably with five hundred and twelve gigs of, of RAM in the Mac or, or maybe two fifty-six.

But I'm guessing it's three eighty-four or five twelve on that Mac, and they're probably getting some pretty decent output speeds.

I'm, I'm, I'm just guessing.

Now, if you want to generate images for free, there's a few open source projects.

The one that I've seen that actually works, but it did slow down my Mac Studio, was something called Ernie by Baidu.

It's an open source project.

You can run it as a local image generation model locally, but it does slow things down.

Then we can go over to a new chat over here, and we can say, "Okay, can you add an image generation section into the agentic operating system using this GitHub repo?" So basically, I wanna create a image generation tool using this GitHub repo inside the Agentic OS.

That's how you would set it up.

Um, I'm not actually gonna install it 'cause I know it will slow things down for the Mac Studio because it's a local model.

Um, but it's, it's pretty good, as you can see.

Apple have unusually timed announcement of the new Mac Mini and Mac Studio, primarily driven by the fact that so many enterprises are now buying these things because you can chain them.

So we covered a few weeks ago the ability to use a Thunderbolt cable in between your Mac Minis or your Mac Studios, and you can effectively put four of them together and create one Super Mac Studio or Super Mac Mini.

And they are exceptionally good at running AI models because of the shared memory, the inference compute that they've got in the CPU, all that sort of stuff that they've got built into their chips.

So, yeah, they've basically brought out new models.

The Mac Mini was said to be the darling of the event.

know they have that in the Mac studio, 16 terabytes and 512 gigabyte RAM.

Yeah, I don't know.

I could be wrong, but I tend to associate that level of local storage with people who are wearing the tinfoil hat in regard to cloud storage.

No one is safe from the Ramageddon, which is what people are calling the memory chip shortage problem currently plaguing the electronics industry due to massive AI build-outs.

In fact, Apple just increased the prices of older iPhones by $100, almost three months after it raised the prices of iPads, MacBooks, and its Mac Studio computer.

In addition, the T1's price increase seems expected.

Trump Mobile's execs previously said that the $499 price tag was just introductory and that buyers could be paying $1,000 for it in the future.

They just announced new Mac studios and Mac minis recently.

And I'm sure everyone, but it's funny because they're, they're basically even Apple's advertising.

And it's basically being a kind of an AI computer now, but cost wise though, I've just can't, I can't make heads or tails of it.
