Cliff DeWittGuestMpochitapiHostVery exciting work, especially now.
Which brings me to our topic, of course.
We are discussing the agentic shift and why South African workers need to evolve to being and becoming supervisors of digital labour.
And I really, really love this topic because I think the last biggest evolution that we've had in the workforce, I think, would date back to the Industrial Revolution.
And I would say that the changes we're going through now are quite similar to that.
And with the advent of AI, you know, we've interacted with it very much through a chatbot system where we ask it a question and it gives us a really smart answer.
So we'll be unpacking that agentic shift where we go from, you know, systems just turning out an answer, but to starting to plan and decide and execute on decisions that humans previously would be doing.
And so that is our topic today.
And that's what we'll be unpacking.
And before we get into it, let's start with terminologies for those that might not be too familiar.

So maybe the way to think about it is sort of, as with all things, there's an evolution in this space.

I think one of the first sort of aha moments in AI It's probably started with machine learning.

That's really the basis of this technology that we kind of talking about so globally today.

And I suppose one of the biggest aha moments for, at least for the general public, was the advent of the chatbot, chat GPT, Gemini-style interface where all of a sudden you had a prompt and you could ask it almost anything and it would give you an answer.

And I guess over the last couple of years, we've watched this evolve into probably better answers.
