What an episode, what a cast, what a performance by Rick, and what a reminder of how talented and versatile Jennifer Saunders is.
I mean, on the final episode, we had to obviously have all the family together.
But in those days, there were a couple of ways to do it, but the way we did it was you ran the film through the camera five times.
We did the granny first because it was the longest makeup, so she could get ready first.
So can you imagine on a lens the size of a film camera? The cameraman's put four strips of black tape and he runs it and he shoots her as the grandmother and then he moves the tape and then he shoots her as the daughter, the daughter, the daughter.
So we did a master shot of her doing all five characters and then, well, of her doing one character in a five shot, in a two shot, in a three shot.
