Three of a Kind

That's a great joke.

And, um, and then when I, when I was doing Three of a Kind, uh, which was my first big TV series, you know, eight, between 8 and 10 million viewers on a Saturday night or whatever it was, um- The producer said, "Well, maybe you should do some standup.

You start thinking about who you are and maybe you should start..." And God bless that person, Paul Jackson, I think.

He sent Kim Fuller to come and see me do my act in Luton, and, um, it was a club gig.

It was for a week.

And basically Kim came and stayed for the week, and we just...

The stuff I was doing on Three of a Kind, Kim just said, "Well, why don't you do Decus here? Why don't you do Delbert here? Why don't you do the Blues Singer? Why don't you do..." And he just had all these ideas and, "Yeah, we could do some chat." He called it chat.

And I said, "Do you mean like, you know, Richard Pryor does chat?" He said, "Yeah.

Yes.

We had, you know, we'd o- only really had Tracey Ullman in Three of a Kind.

We'd had Marty Kane, who was very model-looking, and, uh, Pamela Stephenson in Not the Nine O'Clock News, so very glamorous-looking women.

Here we had two women who constantly made themselves look awful.

Because what I want to say was that, in a way, he was very Lee Evans-like.

He could do some of the stuff Lee Evans did.

But David Copperfield, because I did some research earlier in the week about this, He's an incredibly talented guy.

Incredibly talented guy.

I don't remember seeing him in anything after Three of a Kind.
