Yes, 1986 saw the rebirth of our beloved Rick, Neil, Vivian and Mike, when the real Cliff Richard forgave all their sins, having crashed through his face, and he raised them up from the bottom of that quarry, all in the name of charity, mate.
Living Doll was released on the 8th of March, 1986, entering the UK singles chart at number four on the 16th of March.
And it reached number one the following week on the 23rd of March, pushing Chain Reaction by Diana Ross down to number two.
The single remained at number one for three weeks with around 1.5 million records being sold in total.
Comic Relief is such an institution that not many may be aware that Living Doll, the charity single, was released two years before the first ever Red Nose Day.
The very first Comic Relief fundraising performances were Comic Relief Utterly Utterly Live, which took place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of April 1986 at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London.
Comic Relief Utterly Utterly Live featured the cream of British comedy, performing sketches including Rowan Atkinson, Angus Deaton, Stephen Fry, French and Saunders, Lenny Henry, Ronnie Corbett, Billy Connolly, plus songs with various musical guests, all rounded off with a rendition of Feed the World.
The B side is called All the Little Flowers Are Happy, with some brilliant dialogue from the boys.
