I want to read these two scriptures in a moment.
They've always had rich meaning to me.
As I have been a father... and a grandfather, and now a great-grandfather, and the Bible in this verse speaks to grandfathers as being instrumental in influencing their grandchildren.
It doesn't take a lot of genius to realize that the future lies within the hearts of today's children.
They will be future leaders.
Judges, politicians, lawmakers, home builders, lawyers, doctors, etc., etc.
And it will be on their shoulders.
Whether society is productive, whether it's moral.
whether society continues to be creative and enjoy the freedom and the liberty that we have here in America, will your children be leaders going forward? It could all be very good if we raise these young people as we are called to raise them and that effort succeeds.
It may not always.
I've seen a lot of great parents have children that go astray, and some of you deal with a heartache of that.
But a lot rides on, a lot depends upon what we do right now with our children, whether they are in the womb, as some are, or they're in their infancy or toddlers or adolescents and beyond.
If Jesus tarries, One of them could be the future pastor of this church.
There's a high possibility of that.
But for good or bad, our children are going to make a contribution and they are going to have impact and they are going to wield influence.
in their immediate surroundings, but perhaps way beyond their immediate surroundings.
This message I want to minister tonight is intended to be a challenge for everyone here.
Whether you have children or not, whether you're married or not, you could be a single mother, a single woman with no children, a single man with no children, looking for a wife, girl, lady, looking for a husband, et cetera.
We all are invested in the future as it pertains to the children of this congregation.
And I wanna challenge you as best I can to that end.
Let's read our text, Deuteronomy chapter six.
Beginning in verse 4, we're just going to read a couple of verses here and then skip to Judges chapter 2.
