Thorin and YamatoCannon on the LEC imploding, a hopeless Fnatic somehow still missing playoffs despite every rival collapsing, and the upcoming Gen.G vs HLE LCK Playoff match. Huel: Limited Time…
They came into the year with a scoff roster.
It really didn't work in those first splits.
It was kind of a bit sus the way that they did, if you remember the circumstances of who lost to them and when.
Then you had the whole, like, second split.
Really just nothing to write home about.
You watched that.
You thought, actually, you know what? Grabs is just going to be fucking good.
He's just... bending shots all day long it's putting something trying to be a hero stand in front of it for the team but then you got to this split and you know what I was ready we could have had a banger opening skit because it could have been about how when all of a sudden you think fanatics cook they even make that if he signing of some ball roll that guy who like had a lot of games for hygiene he really wasn't it you know in the LPL and you might have thought you know what that's even classic fanatic isn't it beside the wrong korean player and just completely mess up at the end some old even though dardo isn't in that role anymore it's the classic dardo type signing isn't it go for the name but maybe it doesn't fit the culture or the team itself and then you know what all of a sudden all the stars started to align g2 started to play a little bit iffy mkoi fell off completely and didn't even make top four for their own home stand gx became a mess because they did these crazy high variance gambles including the dreaded oscar and in brought into their team between the splits nobody even knows despite vitality's form can even perform in the playoffs is pad just actually going to get himself fired completely can't even make that call right now sk looked like a threat but they flat to deceive in the end they didn't really do anything because they couldn't close any games out perfect time for fanatic to just get get a few games going to sneak right in there into the playoffs and then who knows after that anything could happen in the playoffs so of course they didn't make the playoffs So world is over.
So the skit is just actually Fanatic just being shit.
There you go.
So there's not even any grand things or big.
The punchline just is Fanatic fucked up again.
You know, like that thing of sort, like, we're not even mad.
We're just disappointed now.
Like, you know what I mean? Like, at this point, how deep does it go? Because Yamato, for real, we were talking about this on the last two episodes.
It was wide open, who not only, like, is going to be in the playoffs, but...
You look at the playoffs, like I said, especially that Vitality angle, where Vitality's the third best team, and then GX at one point was the third or fourth.
You look at that, if you are both SK and Fnatic, you should be licking your lips and rubbing your hands like, I can't wait for this.
Just get us in there, put me in the game, coach.
Let me have a shot at this.
And obviously, they've actually fucked it at the end, even though if you go to a couple of points in this split, was looking good they've actually had wins where it really did make you believe like maybe this could happen maybe they can actually do what is it like obviously that g2 result was pretty cool wasn't it so this is in in its own way even though it's not fun the most fanatic thing ever because if people don't know famously fanatic always makes worlds in fact bizarrely the one other time they didn't make worlds if people don't know it was obviously that 2016 roster right after the amazing 2015 when they actually had daylaw and reckless and all but like all those famous players so the weirdest thing about fanatic ever is usually like last year they make worlds no matter what it doesn't even matter how the rosters how it falls apart they just get it together in summer and then just doesn't end up mattering then yeah maybe they don't do much at worlds that's true for the last few years but at least you always get there the idea that actually you gave like a little bit of false hope at the end and then didn't make it that's not that's fanatic-esque in how disappointing it is, but actually isn't in terms of the result.
And obviously this does lead to a bigger discussion, which is we can talk about the specifics of this campaign, but surely what people really want us to have a discussion about is, it's the classic thing that, by the way, I even noticed my boy Nightshare immediately in there with the tweet, because ever since he left the team, guys, every single time Fanatic fails, he just sort of updates you on the fact that like, It's basically an org problem, isn't it? It's not really the coach or the players.
