Our Pagan Homeschool Experiment: A First Harvest at Lughnasadh

Something I wanna share with everybody, 'cause I just absolutely love these resources we've picked up, and I wanna shout out to these creators that have made these resources, but also talk a little bit about my experience using them.

We started the summer off in June with such high hopes.

I ordered things that were, like, in the realm of our curriculum, and we did a shopping trip to Barnes & Noble, and I found such gorgeous, amazing resources that we've been using this summer.

The first one I have to shout out is a local creator.

They're a husband and wife, and they run a beautiful school.

It's such a gorgeous preschool out of their home in Puyallup, and they are called Wonder Garden.

So here is their summer curriculum book, and we purchased this as well as their songbook, because they have a beautiful songbook for anybody who plays an instrument.

I myself, of course, play piano and sing.

It's been such a beautiful asset to sing their original summer songs.

They have all original art in here, and I so recommend if you're a parent and you're interested in curriculum, especially for really young kids.

They do such a beautiful job curating stories and songs.

But this book, if you're watching the video version, I'm gonna show some of the inside of this book.

Their photographs are so beautiful.

They have step-by-step instructions, grocery list supplies, morning activities, laid out shopping lists for the week.

They have recipe ingredient lists that if you are gluten-free or have an allergy, they have recommendations for how to change up the recipe, even if you wanna go sugar-free.

They have their songs in here with the sheet music.

They have the stories in here.

Everything is beautifully curated for such an incredible experience for your young kids.

And this summer curriculum, we have, like, barely scratched the surface, and part of that is just I haven't been able to prioritize it like I would have thought that I could.

There's about three days per week of material that they have.

This whole curriculum is centered around stories of gnomes and fairies.

It's secular, emphasizing childlike wonder and play and connection with nature.

I so appreciate this because I think however religious you are and whatever respect you are, I think that it's such an easy-to-appreciate curriculum because there's no angle, there's no agenda.

It's really just about kids using their hands, getting outside.

Some of the activities we've done and I'm really interested to try, they have these gorgeous, like, banners you can make dyeing with turmeric and using leaves to imprint, teaching the kids to make the bread, to make the sandwich, to go out on a picnic and enjoy a summer's day.
